What's happening at Acacia Village? Here are some brief reports on the latest happenings:
Week of May 23-27: six volunteers from Oklahoma Baptist University visited to Acacia Village to provide a Vacation Bible School-style program for the children, with craft, games, Bible stories and music. The volunteers represented various fields of study, including art, music and child development. Many thanks to Asst. Professor Krista Hands and the 5 student volunteers who gave so generously of their time and resources to provide this enrichment for the Acacia Village children waiting to join their forever families.
Comment from Yehualashet Demissie, AV staff counselor: "Every day [that week] the group spent their time fully on teaching Bible stories, playing different games, showing movies, coloring, doing crafts and drawing. Friday brought a tearful end to the week -- they will miss each other. The older children prepared handmade cards and presented them to each member of the group. All the staff was crying by the situation happened. From my observation, I appreciate other groups to do the same and is very important for the children's development."
